Book Blogger Hop #5

A weekly meme hosted by Jennifer @ Crazy for Books.
This meme is a way for book bloggers and readers to connect with other book lovers. Each weekend a new question is posted for book bloggers to answer on their blogs. The Book Blogger Hop lasts from Friday to Monday each week. Go to this weeks post to find out more information on this meme.

This weeks question is:
If I gave you £50 (or $80) and sent you into a bookshop right now, what would be in your basket when you finally staggered to the till?

Oh, God. This is a GREAT question, but one I'd normally try and avoid at all costs because it's just SO hard to answer. But I'll try my best to answer. Even though I can NEVER figure out what I want to buy because I have way too many books on my wishlist. So I'd normally sit there for HOURS just trying to choose between the books that I have in my hand.

But anyway, off the top of my head, here goes:

Fallen, book #1

There’s something achingly familiar about Daniel Grigori.
Mysterious and aloof, he captures Luce Price’s attention from the moment she sees him on her first day at the Sword & Cross boarding school in sultry Savannah, Georgia. He’s the one bright spot in a place where cell phones are forbidden, the other students are all screw-ups, and security cameras watch every move.
Even though Daniel wants nothing to do with Luce–and goes out of his way to make that very clear–she can’t let it go. Drawn to him like a moth to a flame, she has to find out what Daniel is so desperate to keep secret . . . even if it kills her. (Summary from Goodreads.)

At Borders (Which is the bookstore I'm using for prices at the moment.) this is $9.99 for a paperback copy of Fallen. I have read and reviewed this book on the blog (Click here for my review.) and I loved it. Since I borrowed it from the library, I don't have my own copy. So I'd love to have my own beautiful copy to put on my bookshelf.

Mortal Instruments, book #1

When fifteen-year-old Clary Fray heads out to the Pandemonium Club in New York City, she hardly expects to witness a murder - much less a murder committed by three teenagers covered with strange tattoos and brandishing bizarre weapons. Then the body disappears into thin air. It's hard to call the police when the murderers are invisible to everyone else and when there is nothing - not even a smear of blood - to show that a boy has died. Or was he a boy?
This is Clary's first meeting with the Shadowhunters, warriors dedicated to ridding the earth of demons. It's also her first encounter with Jace, a Shadowhunter who looks a little like an angel and acts a lot like a jerk. Within twenty-four hours Clary is pulled into Jace's world with a vengeance, when her mother disappears and Clary herself is attacked by a demon. But why would demons be interested in ordinary mundanes like Clary and her mother? And how did Clary suddenly get the Sight? The Shadowhunters would like to know....
Exotic and gritty, exhilarating and utterly gripping, Cassandra Clare's ferociously entertaining fantasy takes readers on a wild ride that they will never want to end.(Summary from Goodreads.)
At Borders this is $10.99 in paperback, but since I'm a member it would be priced at $6.59. I've read this book and loved it, I use to have a copy of it, but I don't anymore so I'd love to get a new copy of it to have on my shelf. I'm also planning on re-reading this soon.

Mortal Instruments, book #3

To save her mother's life, Clary must travel to the City of Glass, the ancestral home of the Shadowhunters -- never mind that entering the city without permission is against the Law, and breaking the Law could mean death. To make things worse, she learns that Jace does not want her there, and Simon has been thrown in prison by the Shadowhunters, who are deeply suspicious of a vampire who can withstand sunlight. As Clary uncovers more about her family's past, she finds an ally in mysterious Shadow-hunter Sebastian. With Valentine mustering the full force of his power to destroy all Shadow-hunters forever, their only chance to defeat him is to fight alongside their eternal enemies. But can Downworlders and Shadowhunters put aside their hatred to work together? While Jace realizes exactly how much he's willing to risk for Clary, can she harness her new found powers to help save the Glass City -- whatever the cost? Love is a mortal sin and the secrets of the past prove deadly as Clary and Jace face down Valentine in the final installment of the New York Times bestselling trilogy The Mortal Instruments. (Summary from Goodreads.)

At Borders, this book in paperback is $10.99, $6.59 with my membership. If I got the first book, all I'd need is this one before the fourth book, City of Fallen Angels, came out.

Morganville Vampires, book #6

In the small college town of Morganville, vampires and humans lived in (relative) peace-until all the rules got rewritten when the evil vampire Bishop arrived, looking for the lost book of vampire secrets. He's kept a death grip on the town ever since. Now an underground resistance is brewing, and in order to contain it, Bishop must go to even greater lengths. He vows to obliterate the town and all its inhabitants-the living and the undead. Claire Danvers and her friends are the only ones who stand in his way. But even if they defeat Bishop, will the vampires ever be content to go back to the old rules, after having such a taste of power?(Summary from Goodreads.)

At Borders this would be $6.99 for a mass market paperback. I have read and own the first five books in the series and really loved it. I need to start getting some of the newer books to catch up. :)

Morganville Vampires, book #7

Without the evil vampire Bishop ruling over the town of Morganville, the resident vampires have made major concessions to the human population. With their newfound freedoms, Claire Danvers and her friends are almost starting to feel comfortable again...
Now Claire can actually concentrate on her studies, and her friend Eve joins the local theatre company. But when one of Eve's castmates goes missing after starting work on a short documentary, Eve suspects the worst. Claire and Eve soon realize that this film project, whose subject is the vampires themselves, is a whole lot bigger-and way more dangerous-than anyone suspected. (Summary from Goodreads.)

At Borders this would be $6.99 for a Mass Market Paperback. This is another book I'd try to get to continue my collection.

Kiss of Death by Rachel Caine
Morganville Vampires, book #8

Vampire musician Michael Glass has attracted the attention of a big- time producer who wants to cut a demo and play some gigs-which means Michael will have to enter the human world. For this, he's been assigned escorts that include both a dangerous immortal as well as Michael's all-too-human friends. And with that mix of personalities, this is going to be a road trip from hell... (Summary from Goodreads.)

At Borders, this is $6.99 for a Mass Market Paperback, another Morganville Vampire book to add to my collection.

If they had Ghost Town by Rachel Caine (The 9th book in the Morganville Vampires.) in Mass Market Paperback, I'd add that here as well. But they don't yet, so I'd like to wait until they do.

Vampire Academy, book #5

Rose and her best friend Lissa can't wait for their real lives beyond St. Vladimir Academy's iron gates to begin. But Rose's heart still aches for Dimitri, and now her worst fears are about to come true. After a long and heartbreaking journey to Dimitri's birthplace in Siberia, Rose Hathaway has finally returned to St. Vladimir's - and to her best friend, Lissa. It is at long last graduation, and the girls can't wait for their real lives beyond the Academy's iron gates to begin. But Rose's heart still aches for Dimitri, and she knows he's out there, somewhere.
She failed to kill him when she had the chance. And now her worst fears are about to come true. Dimitri has tasted her blood, and now he is hunting her. And this time he won't rest until Rose joins him . . . forever. (Summary from Author's website.)

At Borders, this book in paperback is $9.99. I have the rest of the series and have read and loved all of them. But I don't have this one book. So I need it to complete my collection. :)

The Hunger Games, book #3

Young Katniss Everdeen has survived the dreaded Hunger Games not once, but twice, but even now she can find no relief. In fact, the dangers seem to be escalating: President Snow has declared an all-out war on Katniss, her family, her friends, and all the oppressed people of District 12. The thrill-packed final installment of Suzanne Collins' Hunger Games trilogy will keep young hearts pounding. (Summary from Goodreads.)

At Borders, a hardcover copy is $17.99, I'd get it for $8.99. I have the first two books in the series, so I still need this one to complete my collection. I have only read the first book in the series. (I reviewed it here.)

Okay, so I'm going to stop right there. I probably went a little overboard with this question. The total is $73.11. :D So, that is what I would get, off the top of my head, what about you?
